Kwanzaa Celebrations Begin this Weekend in Savannah

(WSAV-TV)- Starting December 26th, Kwanzaa celebrations will take place at the Mary Flournoy Golden Age Center.

This is the 31st year Savannah residents are celebrating the African traditional holiday honoring culture and principles. Speakers and celebrations will be held at the center around 6 PM from the 26th until January 1st.

The first celebration, Umoja, will celebrate unity in the African community and the final celebration, Imani, will center around faith.

Below is a list of guest speakers for each Kwanzaa celebration.

December 26 – Ned Williams

December 27 – Alicia Blakely

December 28 – Min. Eric McBeth

December 29 – Min. Jamie Muhammad

December 30 – Bishop Willie Ferrell

December 31 – Lillian Grant-Baptiste

January 1 – Dr. Estella Shabazz

The Mary Flournoy Golden Age Center is located on 1001 W. 39th Street.
