San Francisco Church gives away Thousands of Free Groceries

San Francisco (KRON)
Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco is handing out thousands of free groceries to people and families in need Wednesday morning.  Glide will hand out 5,000 free bags full of groceries to individuals and families at GLIDE in the 300 block of Ellis Street from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or until they run out.   The line began forming in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with some people camping out as early as Tuesday night.   Each bag contains everything needed for a holiday meal including, the option of canned ham or frozen chicken, microwaveable family sized sweet and sour chicken dinner, bread, peanut butter, brown rice, green beans, and fruit.
Contributing partners for this year’s Grocery Bag Giveaway include Central Payment, Spot On and Gap Inc. who provide financial support as well as dozens of volunteers to help fill and hand out grocery bags throughout the morning and afternoon.
