Santa is asking Beaufort County firefighters for some help this year.
“Some years back, one of our battalion chiefs, Vernon Eddenfield, saved one for Santa’s elves, and in return he has afforded us the opportunity to collect Santa mail for him and its such an awesome thing for firefighters, and it wasn’t but last year that we began sharing this awesome thing with friends around Beaufort County,” said Lt. Lee Levesque of the Bluffton Twp. Fire District.
And even though we are only a few days away from Christmas there’s still time to get your letters in to Santa.
“If you haven’t mailed your letters yet, its not too late. Most if not all of the fire stations in Beaufort county have mailboxes outside, visit one! Drop off your letters, and take a moment to come say hi to your firefighters.”
The firefighters collect all of the letters for Saint Nick, and then they are magically transported to the north pole.
“We’ll periodically go out and bring it all in and then magically overnight it just disappears. We don’t know if its his elves or the big man himself but it heads to the north pole. And what we’ve heard from the other end is that the children get a letter in reply. Which is phenomenal.”
Phenomenal for the kids, and for the firefighters, Lieutenant Levesque says its gotten everyone into the holiday spirit.
You can drop off your letters up until Wednesday, Lieutenant Levesque says make sure you have a return address with your child’s name on the envelope, and they will send them off to Santa.
