A Christmas parade, Savannah style! The 15th Annual Boat Parade of Lights always occurs on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and included 38 lighted vessels this year parading on both sides of the waterfront, accompanied by live music performances, tree lighting ceremony, and the second largest fireworks extravaganza all year! It was the largest boat parade to date and we estimate 2500 people were in attendance on the Westin grounds and thousands more lined up River Street to watch too. Proceeds from the event will support Greenbriar Children’s Center as part of our Holiday Series events raising money and awareness for children’s and family charities in the region. Additionally each boat captain brought toys to contribute to the Greenbriar Children’s Center.

About the Annual Holiday Series
The 15TH Annual Savannah Harbor Foundation Holiday Series offers an all new, exciting holiday experience for kids of all ages with the addition of Santa’s Workshop, the ICEBAR at the North “Pool”, a spectacular 3D Video Projection Experience, the biggest boat parade, the biggest Gingerbread Village yet, and nightly programming and entertainment provided by guest charities. According to this year’s organizers, one of the most important factors this year was the ability to centralize all of the family indoor and outdoor at The Westin Resort, with access to parking at the Resort and the Trade & Convention Center, the ballrooms, restaurants, event spaces pool and the beautiful Riverfront Esplanade. While the Festival of Lights drive through light show is on hold for this year, the centralized activities inside and outside of Savannah’s Resort will be a sight to behold. The 2015 Holiday Series is presented by the Savannah Harbor Foundation, Savannah Morning News, & The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa to raise awareness and funds for the nightly charity partners providing volunteers or programming each night of the holiday season

About The Savannah Harbor Foundation
The Savannah Harbor Foundation is a 501(c)-3 non-profit charitable organization designed to support local children’s’ charities and to present family-oriented community events. The Foundation first began as a response to the tragedy of 9/11 – the General Manager of The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa, Mark Spadoni, felt the need to bring some feel-good, family-friendly, uplifting events to the city in the tragedy’s aftermath. To this tune, he and other area business leaders like Mark Dana, the late Ben Tucker, Whip Triplet and Diana Morrison joined forces to form the Savannah Harbor Foundation. Supported by an all-volunteer board and staff, the Foundation presents several events throughout the year. The annual highlight, however, is the Holiday Series.
