(Homerville, GA)- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer involved shooting involving two Homerville police officers.
According to a GBI news release, around 11:30 Monday night, Officer Robert Woeller and Officer Tim Mow were conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Larry Wayne Johnson. Officer Woeller fired his weapon to prevent Johnson from hitting Officer Mow when Johnson tried to drive away.
Police say no one was struck or injured.
Johnson turned himself into the Clinch County Sheriff’s Office early Tuesday morning. He’s being charged with one count of aggravated assault on a peace officer, two counts of obstruction of a police officer, one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and one count of fleeing and attempting to allude. Johnson is currently being held in the Clinch County Jail.
