First Christmas Full Moon in 38 Years

Full Moon Falls on Christmas for the First Time Since 1977.

For the first time in 38 years… Christmas Day will feature a full moon over the United States. The last time this occurred was way back in 1977.

The moon rises Christmas Eve in Savannah on the east-northeast horizon at 5:07 pm… then sets Christmas morning at 7:14 a.m. on the west-northwest horizon.

The peak of the full moon here in Savannah will occur at 6:11 am Christmas morning.

The odds of having a Christmas full moon are the same as any other day of the year… about twice every 59 years.
