BCSO Offers Holiday Safety Tips

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s office says it will be boosting patrols this week both on the county roadways and also at some of the busier shopping areas like Tanger Outlets.

“Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, people are advised to allow extra time to get where they’re going, and get there safely. If you’re going to be out celebrating make sure you have a ride, a designated driver to get you home safely as well.”

Officers say not only is it important to take your time getting to the stores, its also important to use common safety practices once you do get there and above all use patience when driving and dealing with other shoppers.

“Shopping on Friday, its going to be a madhouse, Tanger Outlets are going to be packed, we’re going to have extra deputies out there. People are advised not to leave valuables in their car, don’t go to ATMs at night, the regular safety tips should be employed.”

Bromage says if there is an emergency situation–its important to get a hold of police immediately by either finding an officer on patrol, calling 9-1-1 or using their new Smart 9-1-1 app.
