COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – An anonymous donor has given the University of South Carolina nearly $4 million for scholarship and educational programs.
Officials said Tuesday the money comes from a recently deceased graduate from Columbia who wished to remain anonymous.
The money will go for scholarships at the South Carolina Honors College and the school of music. The money will also allow the school to hire a steward for the Belser Arboretum, a 10-acre nature preserve near the school’s campus.
Other funds will be used for rare book acquisition and preservation at university’s libraries.
