(Savannah, GA)- If you live in Savannah, you have a chance to recycle your Thanksgiving holiday cooking oil and grease again this year.
The City is holding its annual recycling event Monday, Nov. 30 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the President Street Wastewater Plant (1400 East President Street).
Simply collect your used cooking oil and grease in sealed containers and turn it in at the event. If you can’t recycle, let used oil and grease cool before throwing it in the trash.
An estimated 70 percent of all sewer blockages in Savannah are caused by improperly discarded grease.
Blockages tend to increase during the holiday season when fried turkeys, hams, and other traditional foods are prepared.
