Police Arrest Man Accused of Social Media Threats

A man wanted in two counties is now behind bars.

28-year-old Dontay Allen was arrested Friday evening by the Bluffton Police Department.

During patrol, a Bluffton PD officer recognized Allen’s vehicle from a bulletin released to law enforcement in regard to Allen making threats against officers on social media. Allen originally provided a false identity to officers, but later admitted his true name and date of birth.

During a search of Allen’s vehicle, police found marijuana and one white pill. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license, simple possession of marijuana and having an active Bluffton Police Department bench warrant.

Allen was wanted in Jasper County for armed robbery and weapons charges. At the time of Allen’s arrest, Jasper County had contacted the US Marshall’s Services which were actively trying to locate Allen.
