SAVANNAH, GA – They are normally working to save lives and protect the community, but today Savannah’s finest were all about football.
Savannah metro police and Savannah firefighters laced up the cleats for the annual turkey bowl, all in benefit of the Coastal Empire United Way.
It was a close one, but all in good competitive fun between the men that keep Savannah safe.
“Being first responders, I have love for the fire department the fire department has love for me, I mean in all it’s no serious ‘we’re going to beat you to the dirt’ it’s just we’re going to come out and have some fun and show the community that we’re here for them,” says Crime suppression officer Antwan Diggs.
“I think it’s just a good opportunity to show that we can work together with the police out on the streets and just having fun,” says master firefighter Randy Hansil.
SCMPD pulled away for the close win with a score of 32 to 26 over Savannah Fire.
