Georgia State Patrol Trooper, William Bowman a family friend who has been providing support to the family since Solomon was struck by a tractor Trailer at the Port Authority in March, said he received a phone call early Thursday morning from Solomon’s family of his passing.
According to Pierce the Chatham County coroner will receive Solomon today and return him to Liberty County where it is expected his funeral service will be conducted.
The Liberty County Sheriff Steve Sikes released the following statement: “I am very saddened to hear of the passing of William Solomon. William served the citizens of Liberty County with respect and dignity from March 23, 2005 to July 26, 2013 through his service as a jail officer, a Court House Security Deputy and as a Patrol Deputy. He was known as a very diligent, conscientious employee, who put his God and his family above all else.
Detective Jennings said William was a deep thinker who asked a lot of good questions because he wanted to do things the right way.
Retired Lt. Marty Adams, who was his Shift Commander, said “He was a fine fellow who was always good to me.”
William left the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office to pursue a career with the Georgia Port Authority P.D. We missed him when he left and we will miss him even more now.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Aida and the children, and all of their extended family. We also extend our condolences to the men and women of the Georgia Port Authority P.D. for their loss.”
