Three women were arrested following a stabbing at a Ridgeland residence on Tuesday. At 6:45 p.m., Ridgeland Police and Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fight involving several people outside of a house on Lady Banks Drive. Three women with three children arrived in their vehicle, and got into an argument with a man over a cell phone.
When the man told the subjects to leave, Police say Sabrina Handy, 26, of Okatie, got a knife from her car and stabbed the man in his stomach. Another man attempted to break up the fight, and suffered minor injuries. Police say Sabrina Handy went on stabbing the first man as he lay on the ground, and Shannon Handy, 23, of Okatie, and Eureka Handy, 27, of Beaufort, joined in the fight, kicking him. Sabrina Handy broke window of his car, and slashed his tire, according to police. Police report she was retrieving a taser from her car, when they arrived on scene.
Sabrina, Shannon and Eureka Handy were all placed under arrest and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center under charges of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, Assault & Battery 2nd and Domestic Violence of a High & Aggravated Nature. The victim was transported by EMS to Savannah Memorial Hospital. The three’s children left inside of the suspect vehicle were turned over to family members without incident.
