Savannah Welcomes A New Baseball Team

Savannah, GA – A new baseball team is coming to the Savannah area. They are part of the Coastal Plain League, where top college prospects play each other. The company, Fans First Entertainment owns the team and collaborated with the Coastal Plain League to bring a baseball team to Savannah. The season isn’t as long as a regular baseball season; it is only June, July and August. They are planning for the first game in June of 2016. The president of the Savannah baseball team, Jared Orton says, he wants the community to help pick a name for the team. SAVANNAH, GA. November 12, 2015 –Fans First Entertainment is excited to announce the launch party for the new Savannah baseball team. The event will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the International Trade and Convention Center from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The team will making major announcements including details about the upcoming season at Grayson Stadium, how the team will be named, and introducing the President and staff.

“We’re thrilled to bring baseball back to Savannah,” said Owner Jesse Cole. “We are excited to introduce our brand of entertainment to the community and showcase our Fans First atmosphere at Grayson Stadium.   We look forward to our first big event and becoming a huge part of the Savannah Community.”

The event will feature Coastal Plain League Commissioner, Justin Sellers, and will be emceed by WTOC’s Frank Sulkowski.

Fans First Entertainment owns and operates the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plain League. The Grizzlies have led the league in attendance the past three seasons, been named Organization of the Year and recognized regionally and nationally for unique from promotions and their fan experience.

The Coastal Plain League is the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 20th season in 2016, the CPL features 16 teams playing in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL has had nearly 1,300 alumni drafted and 81 of those – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut; while another notable alum – Russell Wilson – won Super Bowl XLVIII.
