Georgia officials work on ways to lower roadway death tolls

It’s been almost six months since five Georgia Southern nursing students were killed in a crash with a tractor trailer on I-16. Today, Thursday, November 12th, the Georgia Department of Public safety and Governor’s Office of Highway Safety are working to give law enforcement better tools to keep that tragedy from happening again.

The Georgia DOT reports more than 1,070 people have died in 2015 on Georgia Roads. That number marks a death toll on pace to mark the first increase in traffic fatalities in nearly a decade.
