One pro-golfer and a golf tournament teed-off on the week of Veterans Day on Dataw Island.
Golf Pro Chris Fearn was on the course before dawn on Monday morning, getting his early start at 4:30 a.m. with glow-in-the-dark golf balls, to raise money for the Green Beret Foundation. With sponsors per hole, per bogie, birdie, and eagle, Fearn raised over $16,000. He played 156 holes by the time he got in around 5:30 p.m. He made 20 birdies and one eagle.
Then on Tuesday, the eighth annual Purple Heart Golf Classic was held. This supports wounded veterans and their families. It began on Tuesday morning with a field of supporters and 30 wounded veterans from all across the country. The tournament raised over $130,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation.
