Sentencing Set for Deputies Convicted in the Death of Inmate Ajibade

The sentencing came down for the the nurse and two corporals that were found guilty in the death of Chatham County jail inmate Mathew Ajibade back in January.

Nurse Gregory Brown: 3 year suspended sentence and 100 hours of community service along with a $1,000 fine. Suspended under first offender treatment and can clear his conviction and recover his license.

Cpl. Maxine Evans: 6 years probation to run concurrent on each charge (public records fraud, perjury x 3), 350 hours of community service with CCYC and 100 Black Men addressing the consequences of not being honest and a $1,000 fine. POST* certification suspended. Suspended under first offender treatment — can clear conviction upon completion of first offender program.

Cpl. Jason Kenny: sentenced to one month in jail, 3 years probated. He will serve month of jail time on weekends along with a $1,000 fine. POST* certification suspended, he will not be allowed to carry a weapon. Suspended under first offender treatment — can clear conviction upon completion of first offender program,

*POST certification suspension means a person cannot be a law enforcement officer during the time of suspension.
