Skidaway Island, GA – It was firsthand family fun at marine science day at the Skidaway institute for Oceanography Saturday afternoon.
Kids had the chance to play with stingrays and tour around the institute campus all a part of the institute’s day of education free of charge to locals and visitors.
The institute hosts the event, like many of its educational seminars, in effort to expose residents to the marine community they live around.
“many people who live here on the coast really don’t fully understand the interaction we have with the coastal environment with the coastal ocean and the atmosphere and a day like today lets them meet a lot of people who work in this world and think about how we sustain resources for the next generation,” says Institute of Oceanography Executive Director James Sanders.
The event ended around 4 P.M. Saturday. If you were unable to make it the institute hosts daily tours and visits at their aquarium on the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography campus.
