Hundreds of soldiers return from deployment, meet newest family members

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo) –Two hundred and eighty Fort Carson soldiers are back home Tuesday afternoon.
They’re from the Third Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

They’ve been deployed in Southwest Asia since February of 2015. Their missions extended over 13 countries, throughout the region helping to support operations in the area.

Hundreds filled the room in anticipation to see their loved ones again after almost nine months of being deployed. Some people meeting new family members and others celebrating big birthdays.

No matter how long it’s been.

“I’m super anxious; I know that’s stupid since we’ve been married for 8 years, “Brittany Cahill, wife said.

Brittany Cahill still gets butterflies when she sees her husband.

“We have five kids together so it’s long due for daddy to be home, and it’s her birthday so what a great birthday present,” Cahill said.

The birthday girl excited to have her daddy back, just in time to celebrate her big day, and she can’t wait to say “Hi daddy.”

When the soldiers finally came in , Brittany searching the lineup, finally spotting her husband right in front making the reunion that much quicker.

“Seeing these little girls as happy as they were when we could tell which one daddy was, fantastic,” Cahill said.

And her husband just happy to see his wife and hold his little ones in his arms again.

“Just glad to be home and be with the family, and be whole again,” Staff Sgt. Bryant Cahill said.

“I had to break down I was crying, it’s hard not to cry. I didn’t know my wife was going to be here. Especially when she came, I was like where are the kids. And she was like your son’s up here and I was like oh my god and I get to hold my son finally, it’s a long time coming it feels great,” Alex Espinal U.S. Army said.

And now that he’s finally able to hold his son.

“I’m not going to let him go,” Espinal said.

Now some of the soldiers say they can’t wait to spend as much time as they can with their family and eat some really good food.
