UPDATE: The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and SLED arson team continue to investigate the deaths of two people found in a burned-out car on Purrysburg Road on Saturday.
Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls says he cannot release the identity of the two people found yet, because their bodies were burned beyond recognition. DNA testing is being sent out to determine their identities. Sauls says the vehicle they were found in was a Dodge Journey. He says there have been reports of missing persons in the area.
Sheriff’s Office investigators report they believe they know the identities of those found, but are waiting for it to be confirmed through DNA test results.
SLED is investigating the deaths of one, possibly two people in Jasper County near Hardeeville as a homicide.
The man who owns the property of Purrysburg road across from the Arm Oak Baptist Church was checking his deer stand when he came upon a burnt truck about 11:30 this morning with a deceased person inside.
Coroner Martin Sauls says this is a death investigation with one homicide confirmed, possibly two.
The sheriff’s office and SLED’s arson team have been investigating.
