Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are asking for help finding a pair of suspects using Craigslist to find their victims, and rob them.
Tevin Jackson and Maurice Benton are accused of not one, not two but four, or more robberies, all off Craigslist, all with the same motive.
“The victim was showing them the cell phone when Mr Jackson snatched it out of his hand,” explained Detective Zachary Burdette. “Threw an envelope at him which he thought it was payment for the cell phone, but it was fake money.”
Police say the pair sped off into a neighborhood to escape, and weren’t done with their crime spree. This time stopping at Savannah Mall.
“About an hour later there was a second victim at Savannah Mall. Except the second time they didn’t bother to give the victim any money, they just took the cell phone,” explained Burdette.
Since then the pair has continued running, and continued robbing unsuspecting people.
“They know they are wanted, we’ve attempted to serve warrants at them several times at their houses,” said Burdette.
Investigators say now they could be in Savannah, or staying with someone on the Savannah State campus.
If you can help find either Tevin Jackson or Maurice Benton, call Savannah-Chatham Metro Police or Crimestoppers at 234-2020.
“You know you have warrants,” said Burdette. “We’ve made contact with your families, they know you have warrants, best thing you can do is turn yourself in.”
