Members of a local Hindu temple tell me people gathered from all over the Georgia and South Carolina area to participate in a religious Hindu celebration on Tybee’s south end on Sunday. Part of the ceremony included going out onto the Back River in boats.

According to our WSAV Storm Team 3 Meteorologists– high tide and strong rip currents may have played a part.

Right now –there is no word on the condition of the two people in the hospital.
