Seized drug money funds Chatham County gang database

Now is the time to start getting your finances together for 2016.

The Chatham County District Attorney’s office was given the go ahead today to spend $50,000 in seized drug money to help create a gang database.

The other half of the funding will come from the governor’s office.

The plan is to take the information officers on the streets know and put it in the database, so there is one central location to keep track of gang members.

District Attorney Meg Heap believes that even though technology can’t stop a bullet, it could help take guns out of the wrong hands.
