A Ridgeland woman is behind bars, charged with shooting her husband over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, Ridgeland Police and Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 38-year-old Monique Riley’s home on Rice Shire Road. Deputies learned that Riley shot her husband, 47-year-old Bryan Riley, in the thigh, during an argument between the two. Her husband was able to wrestle the handgun away, when the firing mechanism jammed. He fled to a neighbor’s house to call for help. Officers responded, and Riley was arrested and charged with attempted murder. Her husband was transported to Coastal Carolina Medical Center for treatment.
