Richmond Hill – Georgia Department of Transportation and The L.C. Whitford Company, Incorporated of Alpharetta are anticipating the fabrication of the seven steel beams to be completed by mid-October for the I-95 Bridge Reconstruction Project over US 17/SR 25 in Richmond Hill. This project is to repair damage sustained to the overpass when it was struck by a vehicle hauling an excavator.
In early October motorists will start to see equipment and materials being moved into the gore area of Exit 87 on I-95 South. This staging is in preparation to begin bridge repairs once the seven 10,700 pound, 62’ foot long steel structures fabrication are completed.
In an effort to minimize the impact to the traveling public and the duration of the project, construction work will be continuous until the repairs are completed, weather permitting. Traffic shift on US 17/SR 25 will be reduced to signal lanes north and south and I-95 southbound traffic shift will have two travel lanes. US 17/SR 25 and I-95 southbound will have reduced speed limits.
We ask the public to be patient during this time and find alternate routes in lieu of US17 at I-95 overpass.
