FUGITIVE FILES ARREST: Man Accused of Destroying SUV

Cedric Dowdy is the 139th Fugitive Files suspect arrested

A man wanted in connection with a domestic dispute that turned criminal is now behind bars.

Cedric Dowdy was wanted for vandalizing and destroying his ex-girlfriend’s car inside a Memorial Medical Center parking lot.

He was picked up late Wednesday afternoon.

Dowdy is charged with criminal damage to property- and violating his probation.

Dowdy is the 138th suspect arrested after being profiled on News 3’s Fugitive Files.

He’s has a 20 year criminal record for everything from drugs to aggravated assault.

Now a 7 foot tall man is facing more charges.

Cedric Dowdy is 39 years old, and has been in and out of jail since 1994.

Now he’s wanted again, this time for a crime caught on tape.

“Video at Memorial Hospital shows him entering the victim’s vehicle.He ransacked the vehicle’s interior and damaged the monitors in the headrests,” explained SCMPD Detective Eugene Solomon. “He also went into the hood, opened the hood, damaged the engine components.”

That car belonged to Dowdy’s ex-girlfriend. The same woman who currently has a protection order out against him.

“He dated the victim about two years,” said Detective Solomon. “During that time there were two reports made, three reports made in reference to domestic violence. He was arrested one time for entering her residence without her authority. ”

Cedric Dowdy is 7’1″ 280 lbs. Investigators say his last known address was on Westlake avenue in Savannah, but he could be anywhere in the city or hiding out in Augusta, GA.
