Roanoke community gathers to remember Adam Ward

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – The community comes together Tuesday to celebrate the life of photojournalist Adam Ward.

On Monday night, people came together at Salem High School to remember his life. Hundreds lined up inside the building surrounded by pictures of Adam smiling.

Those who attended said it’s amazing to see how much the community is showing support for the family.

People wore Virginia Tech and Salem Spartan colors in Adam’s memory. They also wrote messages to his family on a long roll of paper.

Those closest to Adam say he always put others before himself.

“He would do anything for his friend and people he loved. He would so anything for this school, this community, the Virginia Tech Hokies…I mean that’s just who he was,” said Lauren Boswell.

Tuesday’s celebration of life service is at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Roanoke.
