(NBC News) President Barack Obama will go where no president has ever gone before on Tuesday.
Adventurer Bear Grylls will lead President Obama on a trek through Alaska’s wilderness. They’re hiking to a glacier and taking a boat tour to see climate change firsthand.
“Climate change is no longer some far off problem. It is happening here,” Mr. Obama said Monday. “The United States recognizes our role in creating this problem, and we embrace our responsibility to help solve it.”
There are plenty of naysayers, including Republicans in Congress who dispute the science.
Oil is another topic that could come up while the president is in Alaska. Residents are pressing the administration for more drilling.
