(KTUU) North America’s tallest peak has officially been renamed to Denali from Mt. McKinley, according to an order signed by the Secretary of Interior, Sally Jewell.
The order comes just before President Obama is set to arrive in Alaska for a three-day visit to the state.

The order to rename the mountain to its Athabaskan name, meaning the ‘Great One,’ is effective immediately and the mountain’s name will be changed in the Geographic Names Information System.
Soon after the order was announced, reactions from state leaders began pouring in.
