Javonta Dunn is facing charges from two different police departments. The most serious in connection with a hit and run accident on Highway 21 and Smith Ave in Garden City.
“Where the at fault driver Javonta Dunn actually fled the scene with his 4 year old son from the scene of the accident,” explains Sgt Lindsey Talley of the Garden City Police Department. “Leaving behind the passenger behind, who is in critical condition.”
Dunn ran from that scene through a heavily wooded area, dragging his young son behind him.
“The child sustained scratches from head to toe from being pulled through the woods,” details Sgt Talley. “At one point his shoes were taken off and he was walking barefoot.”
And even though the little boy was hurt, police say Dunn didn’t drop off his son until the next morning. That was hours after his panicked Mother called Police for help finding him.
Dunn is facing cruelty to children, leaving the scene of an accident and drug charges. That’s in addition to his previous criminal rap sheet.
“He has an array of charges from battery to thefts all the way to armed robbery,” explains Talley.
“We think he (Dunn) is on the Eastside of Savannah on Camilla Court or Southside Savannah on Burbank blvd. Or he could be here in Garden City. He has family here who stays on Camilla Ave.”
