UPDATE: The jury is selected for the murder trial of Aaron Young, Sr. There are five women and seven men seated on the jury. The trial is set to begin on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Beaufort.
Earlier: The jury selection in Aaron Young, Sr.’s trial is underway in Beaufort. Young, Sr., is one of three men accused of the murder of 8-year-old Khalil Singleton. Singleton was killed by a stray bullet while playing in his grandmother’s yard in Hilton Head Island in September 2012, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office says Singleton was murdered as the the result of a running gun battle between the three men, Robinson, Young, Jr., and Young Sr., on September 1, 2012.
Tyrone Robinson, one of the three men accused of Singleton’s murder, was tried and found guilty of murder in September 2014. He was then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Aaron Young, Jr., another of the three accused and Young, Sr.’s son, was tried and found guilty of murder in February 2015. He was then sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Young, Sr.’s trial will get underway following the Monday jury selection.
