A new third-grade teacher at Bluffton Elementary will be bringing a special set of skills to the classroom when school starts later this month.
Suzie Hollings will have her first day with students August 17th and she hopes her 23 years with the Marines will help her keep students in line. She tells NEWS 3 she doesn’t think molding students and molding Marines will be much different.
“Interestingly enough there are a lot of similarities really. A lot of my job entailed mentorship and recruiting ans training marines, and of course in the elementary age, you still have to have a systematic approach to teaching. So its very similar although it is a huge gap in age and maturity.”
Hollings says she hopes her strengths in organization and communicating expectations to students will aid in their education and development. she says she cant wait to get into the classroom August 17th.
