A 21-year-old Beaufort County employee was shot in killed in an alleged road rage shooting Tuesday night.
Around 9:00pm, Rhashard Spikes was driving his Dodge Dart with two passengers in the Southwood Park area. Spikes and his passengers told investigators that they nearly avoided an accident with a silver colored vehicle with dark tinted windows.
Spikes yelled out to the driver of the silver car and as they drove on, they noticed the silver car speeding up to catch up with them. Someone in the silver car fired at least two shots into Spike’s car as they passed. One of the shots struck Spikes and he passed away at the Medical University of South Carolina around midnight.
Deputies are looking for the driver and passengers of the silver car. Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call Investigator Cornillus La Van at 843-255-3313.
Rhashard Spikes was an employee of Beaufort County Animal Control. In honor of Spikes, Animal Control is closed Wednesday.
