SANTA CRUZ (KRON) —  KRON 4 cameras were there as residents learned that Madyson Middleton’s body had been found, according to police, and a 15-year-old was taken into custody.

Authorities said the boy could be tried as an adult. Neighbors who live at the Tannery Arts Center tell KRON 4 they are in shock that a crime like this happened in their tight-knit community. And on Tuesday, Dan Kerman talked with some of them, who they said knew the suspect.

Neighbors have come together to build a memorial for Madyson on the sidewalk.
