MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) – A family friend says the visitation and funeral for Lance Cpl. Skip Wells, a Georgia Marine gunned down at a Navy-Marine reserve center in Chattanooga, will be open to the public.
Theresa Bass, a friend of the family, said the funeral will be at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock at 2 p.m. Sunday. Wells will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Visitation is set for Friday and Saturday at the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.
Marietta police say a motorcade will escort Wells’ casket from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Thursday afternoon and continue north on Interstate 75.
Police say they plan to shut down part of the Canton Road Connector Bridge over I-75 so residents can gather on the roadway to pay their respects.
