Unpaid Wage Protest in Bryan County

More than half a dozen former workers set up an informational picket outside Big A’s Iron Cafe.

Joined by supporters, the former restaurant workers say they haven’t been paid in more than 45 days.

The former kitchen manager and organizer of the protest says there was a group walk out a month ago, and they still don’t have paychecks.

Former Kitchen Manager, Shawntray Grant said, “I tried to stick it out as long as I could and try to support the team as much as I could… after a certain point, bills have to be paid.”

Adrian Edwards of the Big A’s Cast Iron Cafe, agrees that the employees should be paid.  “It’s a real labor dispute, but at the time, like I said, we know that we’re doing all that we physically and financially can, and things will work out.”

Edwards says he will try to pay the workers in the next few weeks.
