A shining moment for a trio of Savannah queens.

2015-2016 Miss Black Savannah Junior Teen USA Azariah Pollen, Miss Black Savannah Talented Teen USA Nkenge Mitchell and Miss Black Savannah USA Briana Ward, received their crowns during a special ceremony over the weekend.

The pageant is the official preliminary to the Miss Black Georgia USA Scholarship Pageant. Pollen, Mitchell, and Ward will compete against other young ladies in their respective age divisions on the state level in October.

This year marks the return of the scholarship pageant to Savannah since 2001 thanks to its Director, Former Miss Black Georgia 2013 Jordan Riles Ogden.

During the evening, Lucy Polite Murray joined the current queens on stage. Murray became the first Miss Black Savannah in 1948 at the age of 16.
