Lightning is being blamed for a Wednesday night house fire on Majestic Oaks Drive.
Southside fire crews got on scene just after 5pm to find heavy smoke coming from the attic.
The homeowners themselves tried to put it out first withut much luck. One of those folks had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Red cross was called in to help the displaced family.
Fire officials say the blaze should be a message to anyone, watch out during a storm.
“If you think it’s come close or hit close,” explains Chief Wayne Noha of Southside Fire Department. “Go check because it can be burning in the attic for minutes before you realize it smell it or someone notices it. That just gives the fire a jump.”
