The Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s animal shelter is filled up with large breed dogs,. Now Police are asking for your help to find good homes for the animals.
The Animal Control Division has launched the Big Mutt Campaign to help reduce the numbers. The campaign is a pet adoption push aimed at decreasing the number of dogs weighing more than 49 pounds. There are currently 10 large breed dogs at the shelter.
Until Saturday, August 1st, Big Mutt adoption costs will be reduced to 50 dollars which includes vaccines, testing, spay and neuter waivers and micro chipping. That’s 20 dollars off the regular fee. You can also adopt a small pet, that will also cost 50 dollars.
Animal Control’s adoptable pets can be viewed online at http://www.adoptapet.com. The shelter is open from 1 until 4:30p.m. daily except on holidays. It is located at 7211 Sallie Mood Drive in Savannah.
