House Votes in Favor of Removing SC Confederate Flag

SC Capitol Confederate Flag to be removed

The South Carolina House of Representatives has approved taking down the Confederate flag from the capitol grounds.

They voted 93-27 to remove it, and Governor Haley is expected to sign the bill and the flag could be removed in days.

Hours before they reached the vote, South Carolina state representative Jenny Horne made an emotional plea to bring down the Confederate flag.

She urged her colleagues to remove what she called a “symbol of hate” for so many.

Horne is a Republican from the Charleston are and a descendant of Confederate president Jefferson Davis.
