UPDATE: Six juveniles and a woman are listed in serious or critical condition after the collision of a pickup truck and an SUV at GA 204 on an entrance ramp to Interstate 95 Sunday evening.
The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the 7:54 p.m. crash on the northbound ramp to the interstate.
A Ford pickup driven by Dallas Dasher, 20, of Meldrim, GA, was traveling west bound on GA 204 at a high rate of speed. The pickup passed a vehicle and collided with the SUV that was turning left onto the northbound entrance ramp with a green arrow.
Five passengers in the white Hyundai Sante Fe and two in the pickup truck were transported via Southside EMS ambulance or air lifted to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV, Hugh Kessler, 37, of Rincon, was transported later for complaints of injuries.
Listed in critical condition were Keaton Kesler, 5, Savannah Kesler, 10, Brianna Kesler, 11, and Tyler Kesler, 13. Listed in serious condition were Holley Kesler, 34, and Dustin Johnson, 13, and Austin Johnson, 14.
Westbound lanes of 204 and the entrance ramp were shut down for several hours during the investigation.
MAIT continues to investigate.
Six people taken to the hospital following a serious crash at Highway 204 and I-95 this evening. It happened right around 8pm. Metro Police say an SUV was turning left onto the northbound ramp of I-95 when it collided with a pickup truck in the inside lane. Five people from the s-u-v, including several children, were transported, one from the truck. LifeStar was called in – but police say they don’t know the conditions of those injured.
