The victim from Saturday’s shooting in Hinesville has been identified as Nathaniel Brown.
He was killed by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jermaine Mealy after Mealy came home to find Brown there with Mealy’s wife.
Hinesville Police continue to investigate this situation.
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jermaine Mealy has been identified as the suspect in the shooting death of a man in Hinesville Saturday afternoon.
According to Major Thomas Cribbs from the Hinesville Police, Mealy has been charged with murder.
Mealy is stationed at Fort Polk Louisiana.
Hinesville detectives are currently investigating the shooting death of a man that happened Saturday afternoon.
According to Lt. Susy Jackson, the man was shot several times following an altercation on Waverly Court shortly before 1 pm.
The home had allegedly been burglarized on Friday night and the female resident notified her husband, an Army chief warrant officer who was attending school in Texarkana, Texas, that everything was okay and the police were investigating it.
Authorities tell us the husband drove throughout the night and when he returned home, found his wife in the residence with a male friend.
Jackson said a scuffle broke out between the men and the husband shot the other man several times in the stomach and chest.
The wounded man was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville where he was later pronounced dead according to Chief of Detectives, Thomas Cribbs.
