A low moving system has dropped historic rains on Houston.
Powerful storms swamped many streets and left drivers stranded, while others tried to venture through the rising water.
Four inches of rain have fallen in Houston, and up to eight in the surrounding areas. This lead to flash flooding and a level one state of emergency for the first time since Hurricane Ike in 2008.
More than 70,000 people were left without power Monday night.
Seven people have been declared dead and 12 people are missing in connection to storms from Texas to Oklahoma.
