Savannah Shelter Discounts Cat Adoption Fees

Savannah Shelter Discounts Cat Adoption Fees (Image 1)

Adoption fees have been decreased  after impoundment of 23 cats from a hording case on Wednesday has stretched the capacity of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Animal Control Shelter past its capacity.

The shelter now has 107 cats, 76 dogs and a rabbit in need of homes. The shelter also is providing care for a squirrel and a tortoise.

Fees for cats are cut in half to $35 today through Monday. Fees for other animals are $70, which includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations and deworming.

One Love Animal Rescue Group is taking applications for individuals and families who are not quite ready to commit to lifetime pets, but are willing to foster a cat/kitten, dog/puppy or nursing mom with babies from the shelter.  This helps the animal leave the shelter and have more time to find a home while making space at the shelter. Information on becoming a foster adoptee is available online at www.oneloveanimalrescue.com.

The shelter on 7211 Sallie Mood Drive  is open from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. every day.
