UPDATE: The drowning of a little boy in Long County Tuesday night has been ruled accidental. Police say Aaron Luke Paton died at his father home. The child’s father and uncle were outside when the boy exited the home and climbed the ladder to the pool. The father performed CPR until emergency crews arrived, but the child could not be saved.
According to Ludowici/Long County Deputy Fire Chief, Shawn Smith, the child was pronounced dead at Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville shortly after 8 p.m.
Smith said they received a call of an unresponsive child on Monticello Drive shortly before 7:30 p.m. When they arrived they found a family member performing CPR on the child. First responders took over and immediately transported the child to the hospital. Smith said the child was discovered on the bottom of a pool located on his father’s property by a family member.
