 UPDATE 6:30 p.m.

Hazlehurst Wood Pellets HR Director Chris Tanner tells News 3 that four employees were injured in a flash fire that occurred around 12:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Two of the employees were treated and released from the hospital.

The other two are at the burn center in Augusta.

Their names and conditions have not been released at this point.

Tanner said the four employees were inside a metal silo-like container when the fire happened.

The cause is still under investigation and Tanner says it’s unknown if the plant will reopen tomorrow.

An explosion sent 4 people to the hospital in Jeff Davis County Tuesday afternoon.  Emergency workers say the explosion happened at Hazlehurst Wood Pellets on Hulett Wooten Farms Road in Jeff Davis County.  Crews from multiple agencies from surrounding Counties were called in to help.

Emergency personnel at the scene tell News 3 that two people were airlifted from Jeff Davis Hospital to the Augusta Burn Center.

Firefighters at the scene say these fires are very hard to extinguish because of the location but they are trying to get the water directly on the fire.

We have a crew on the way and will have much more when information is available.
