Men in Heels Raise Awareness in Forsyth Park

Walkers in Forsythe Park will raise money to fight diabetes

An unusual site as dozens of men slipped on their high heels and walked a mile around Forsyth Park Thursday night.  It was all part of the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire’s second annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event.

While there was plenty of fun and joking, the event is a way to raise awareness and galvanize the support of men and boys in the community in a unified front against sexual violence.  Camron Cummings was one of the walkers.  I’m here to represent my mother who was a victim so came out for her, “ he said.

SCMPD turned out in force raising the most money for the event.  “I’ would have done good ,but I had a blowout about quarter of the way around but finished for the cause– and what a great cause this was today, said Major Larry Branson.

The walk symbolizes the steps that victims take toward healing.
