An unusual site as dozens of men slipped on their high heels and walked a mile around Forsyth Park Thursday night. It was all part of the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire’s second annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event.
While there was plenty of fun and joking, the event is a way to raise awareness and galvanize the support of men and boys in the community in a unified front against sexual violence. Camron Cummings was one of the walkers. “I’m here to represent my mother who was a victim so came out for her, “ he said.
SCMPD turned out in force raising the most money for the event. “I’ would have done good ,but I had a blowout about quarter of the way around but finished for the cause– and what a great cause this was today, said Major Larry Branson.
The walk symbolizes the steps that victims take toward healing.
