Dr. Karen Cook Bell
Dr. Karen Cook Bell – “My interest in history emanated from reading the scholarship of W.E.B. Du Bois while in high school in Savannah, Georgia.” Those are the words of Dr. Bell. She is assistant professor of African American history and U.S. history at Bowie State University. She is one the leading scholars regarding the Civil War, Slavery, Emancipation, and Reconstruction; Gender, 19th century Labor, and Civil Rights. She has written several articles and her works have appeared in edited collections of essays. Dr. Bell is currently and has proven to be one of the most insightful scholars on U.S. History in this country. She fits well within the research mold of Dr. W.E.B. Dubois.
