TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Ben Moore tallied three hits and drove in three runs and Geoffrey Bramblett tossed a complete game shutout as No. 2 seed Alabama eliminated No. 4 Seed Georgia Southern with a 6-0 victory in game five of the Tallahassee Regional.
Alabama (36-23) moves on to play the Kennesaw State Owls in the regional final at 5 p.m. Georgia Southern is eliminated from NCAA postseason play.
The Eagles finished the 2014 campaign 40-23, their most wins since 2009, won the Southern Conference Tournament for the sixth and final time and won a game in postseason play for the first time 2002.
Bramblett tossed a complete game two-hit shutout and picked up the win. Bramblett (5-2) walked two batters and struck out seven on 124 pitches.
The righthander allowed one hit through the first seven innings and retired 14-straight batters from the second inning until Ben Morgan drew a lead off walk in the seventh. Stryker Brown walked to put two runners on for Garren Palmer, who dropped a ball down the left field that was narrowly foul. Bramblett later struck out Palmer, and Hunter Thomas laced a hard hit ball right at the shortstop for the final out of the frame.
Garrett Chapman led off the eighth inning with a single but was erased on a line drive double play. The Eagles went in order in the ninth inning.
Will Jackson allowed just one base runner through the first two innings, a two-out single in the first, but allowed two walks and a RBI single to Georgie Salem before exiting in the third inning. Ben Moore extended the Alabama lead to 3-0 with a two-RBI double into the left field corner before Matt McCall was able to get the Eagles out of the jam.
Jackson (3-3) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on two hits and two walks. The freshman righthander struck out two batters on 44 pitches over 2.1 innings.
Moore plated another run in the fifth inning with his third hit and second double off the day. Moore dropped a ball in between the centerfielder and rightfielder to drive in a one-out Mikey White double. The junior rightfielder finished with three hits, three RBI, a walk and a run scored.
Alabama scored two more runs in the eighth inning after sending eight batters to the plate. Moore walked to lead off the frame and scored on a wild pitch. Chance Vincent plated the second run after drawing a bases-loaded walk.
