(Savannah) – Wednesday afternoon the Stuart Sligh, Jr. Memorial Foundation honored Bethesda Academy with a check for more than $2,000 for its athletic program.

Sligh, Jr. died in an automobile accident two years ago. His family has started the Stuart Sligh, Jr. Memorial Foundation to award schools with money for various athletic programs. Stuart Sligh, Sr. and his wife were on had at Bethesda Wednesday to provide the school with a check presentation.
Bethesda football coach Antwain Turner accepted the check on behalf of Bethesda.

The Stuart F. Sligh, Jr. Memorial Foundation will make its first award donation to Bethesda Academy in memory of Stuart F. Sligh, Jr. (Stu), a Savannah Country Day honor roll student who tragically died on February 8, 2012 at the age of 16 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
The Stuart F. Sligh Jr. Memorial Foundation was established to honor Stu’s leadership qualities, character, athleticism, academics and faith. As an all-region football and baseball player, Stu’s accomplishments were wide and varied including being selected by his peers as co-captain of the football team and earning top honors as the fifth ranked quarterback in the state after the conclusion of his sophomore football season.
